Local
History and Genealogy Collections |
The Local History and Genealogy Collections in the TRL system are diverse and ever changing. The Evans Memorial Library, Amory Municipal Library, Bryan Public Library, Choctaw County Library, and the Webster County Library have genealogy, local history, Mississippian and special collections in separate areas for use of scholars, historians, genealogists, and other researchers. These libraries collect information by and/or about city and county history for use in their special collections' area. These materials may include photographs and portraits, newspaper clippings, original manuscripts, family histories, census records, microfilm, publications of societies, associations, and governmental records. Each branch library has separate policies and guidelines that govern their special collection. Other
libraries may collect specific titles of a "special" nature
but do not have a need, or space to develop separate collections. |
